To mark the Sarah Doyle Center’s 50th anniversary, I was tasked with developing a commemorative wordmark and supporting graphics that honored the center’s legacy while aligning more closely with Brown University’s visual identity.
Historically, the center had leaned heavily on navy in its branding. To bring them closer to the university’s core palette, I introduced Brown’s signature color alongside a warm taupe from the secondary palette. This updated color approach gave the mark a grounded, contemporary tone while maintaining a sense of familiarity for the community.
The final design included a custom 50th anniversary wordmark paired with a subtle texture/pattern that could be used flexibly across print and event materials. This included two banner formats: a large-scale vinyl banner for the building’s exterior railing and a portable pop-up stand for use at events.
After several iterations and collaborative feedback, we landed on a concept that reflected the center’s identity and history—drawing from visual references and inspiration provided by the partner to create a mark that felt celebratory, intentional, and in line with their mission.
